Energy Audit Hospital

Client:
Regional Referral Hospital Western Uganda
Scope:

Comprehensive Energy Audit & Efficiency Roadmap

Durations: 3 weeks

Sector:

Healthcare / Public Infrastructure

Project Overview

The hospital, one of the busiest in Western Uganda, was facing escalating utility bills and energy reliability issues. They lacked real insight into how energy was being consumed or wasted across departments.

We were engaged to perform a comprehensive energy audit and recommend feasible efficiency upgrades.

Our Role

Conducted walk-through and detailed audit of all major systems: lighting, HVAC, laundry, kitchen, and sterilization.

Installed temporary metering devices to log energy use and load patterns.

Identified inefficient lighting and air conditioning units, as well as unnecessary night-time load.

Assessed power factor and demand peaks to evaluate utility billing penalties.

Developed a customized Energy Efficiency Roadmap including cost estimates and ROI.

"Your report and recommendations have given us a roadmap to long-term sustainability. We've already started implementation and can see measurable results."

Saul Goodman

Hospital Administrator

Results

Identified potential annual savings of UGX 98 million (approx. $26,000).

Recommended LED retrofitting and HVAC control upgrades with 2-year payback.

Suggested solar backup integration for critical care units.

Reduced monthly energy demand by 18% after partial implementation.

Built a strong case for Ministry of Health support for funding improvements.
